Cat Surgery in Philadelphia
Your Cat Is in the Safest Hands
If you believe your cat needs surgery, or if one of our veterinarians recommends a surgical procedure, you can trust that the team at The Cat Doctor will make sure your beloved pet gets the outstanding care and treatment he or she deserves. Our Philadelphia cat veterinarians can perform many routine and some non-routine surgeries on-site. Our patients’ vital signs are closely monitored when they are anesthetized for any surgical procedure.
Surgical monitoring includes:
- Respiratory rate
- Blood pressure
- Pulse oximetry
Your cat also receives pain medication prior to the procedure, and antibiotics, an anti-inflammatory, and additional pain medication after the procedure, if necessary. A trained veterinary technician will stay with and monitor your cat during recovery.
Please note, we do not perform declaw surgeries on our patients due to associated risks.
Deciding on Surgery
At The Cat Doctor, it is our goal to provide you with all the information you need to make the best decisions possible. When it comes to your cat, there are several factors that need to be addressed prior to moving ahead with surgery.
Some factors that could affect whether or not surgery is the best choice include:
- The age and health of your pet
- The risk factors involved with the procedure
- The potential outcome of the surgery compared to not having the surgery
- Post-procedure care and recovery time
