Why The Cat Doctor?

The Cat Doctor is a full service medical and surgical facility exclusively for cats. Established in 1983 in the Art Museum area, our hospital has served the Philadelphia community providing excellent comprehensive and compassionate care.   We feel it is a pleasure and privilege to care for your feline family members and will make every effort to ensure a positive experience for you at our hospital.

The Cat Doctor strives to offer the highest quality feline health care in a warm and welcoming environment. Our goal is to provide state-of-the-art medicine for our clients and patients through the skilled and compassionate hands of our dedicated team members, with particular emphasis on performing sound laboratory and imaging diagnostics, minimizing patient stress, and alleviation of pain and discomfort. We encourage open, honest communication with our clients, allowing them to make informed decisions about their cat’s care and participate in their cat’s well-being.

We are AAHA Accredited!

We voluntarily sought and received a three year accreditation by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). This means that an expert regularly evaluates our practice to ensure that we are always complying with the highest standards of veterinary medicine.  It also means you can be sure your cat is receiving the best possible care using the latest procedures and technology.  Cats are our passion and keeping them healthy is our top priority. Only about 12% of animal hospitals in the U.S. and Canada are accredited by AAHA, and we’re proud to say that we’re one of them!

We are a Cat Friendly Practice!

The Cat Doctor is also proud to be certified as a Cat Friendly Practice by the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) at the Gold Status. This certification reflects our consideration of the unique needs of cats in the waiting and examination rooms, the care we take in handling our feline patients, the attitude and knowledge of our staff and the comfort and concern we show for cats and their owners. The AAFP established the Cat Friendly Practice program to help veterinary practices meet the needs of cats in a veterinary practice setting. An extensive self-assessment checklist was designed to demonstrate that Cat Friendly Practices:

  • Understand the unique needs of cats and have made veterinary visits more cat-friendly.
  • Understand how to approach and handle cats in a gentle, empathetic and caring manner.
  • Have an appropriate standard of equipment needed to investigate and treat feline patients.
  • Meets a standard for the facilities and care for hospitalized cats.

Come and see why this makes a difference for you and your pet!
